With its Eve Single, Alfen offers a charging station that is suitable for dynamic PV surplus charging and price-based control. One of its great features is the option of automatic phase switching, which we also support.
The Eve Single has an OCPP interface through which we can communicate with your wallbox.
Please note that you have to purchase some software functions from Alfen. In our tests, the “Alfen Load Balancing Active” function was required.
Preparation
To connect the EVE Single to us, it is necessary to activate the OCPP backend of the wallbox.
Before starting the setup, you must connect your wallbox to the Internet. Make sure that the latest updates are installed. You can obtain these from the wallbox manufacturer
To set up the OCCP backend, you need access to your wallbox via the “ace service installer”.
You can download the ACE Service Installer from the Alfen website: https://alfen.com/nl/search-downloads?keyword=ACE+Service+Installer
Installation
1. connect to your wallbox with the ACE Service Installer.
2. go to the “Connectivity” menu and select “Network Profile 1”. There you can enter the OCPP parameters for the wallbox. Under “connect method”, select the variant with which you are connected to the Internet. The “Protocol” is OCPP 1.6 The “CSMS URL” is individual for your account. Copy this from our app and paste it into the wallbox.
In some cases it is necessary to use “ws://” instead of “wss://”.
The “Security Profile” is “0: Default”.
Now click on “Save” to save the settings.
3. to control the charging process properly, it is important to set the authorization to RFID. Our system can then automatically start and pause the charging process. To do this, go to “Authorization” in the “Authorization” menu and select “Authorization mode” RFID
Now click on “Save” to save the settings.
4. to use the automatic power adjustment, the “Active load balancing” option must be checked in the “Load balancing” menu under “Active balancing”. Alfen may charge for this function. To use phase switching, check the “Allow single-/multiphase charging” box.
Now click on “Save” to save the settings and restart the wallbox!
5. the wallbox now connects to our backend and you can select it there to continue the setup. In some circumstances, it may happen that the wallbox is displayed as offline after setup, wait briefly or perform a refresh to update the display. It may also help to briefly unplug the vehicle or connect it to the wallbox.
Now you can have your wallbox controlled automatically and charge your car with cheap solar power! Please note that we cannot provide you with a software update for the wallbox. If an update is necessary, you must obtain this from the manufacturer.
